You requested "copies of the Congressional Correspondence logs that are maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard that lists congressional and/or governmental correspondence between the Coast Guard and the following Senators listed below (dates to search in parentheses). * Lisa Murkowski (2002-Present) * Marco Rubio (2011-Present) * John Kennedy (2017-Present)" We conducted a comprehensive search of files within the Office of Congressional & Governmental Affairs (CG-0921) for records responsive to your request. Using the search words "Murkowski," "Rubio," and "Kennedy," on October 13, 2020, Ms. Margaret Johnson conducted a search of the "Executive Correspondence Tracking" (ECT) system and produced the requested congressional correspondence logs. This search produced a total of 12 pages of logs. We are granting your request under the FOIA, Title 5 U.S.C. § 552, as amended, and DHS' implementing regulations, 6 C.F.R. Chapter I and Part 5. After carefully reviewing the responsive documents, I determined that they are appropriate for public release. They are enclosed in their entirety; no deletions or exemptions have been claimed. Provisions of the FOIA allow us to recover part of the cost of complying with your request. In this instance, because the cost is below the $14 minimum, there is no charge. 6 CFR § 5.11(d)(4). Because the ECT system only contains correspondence back to 2007, the search results do not include correspondence relating to Senator Murkowski from 2002-2006. If you still would like these logs, the records will need to be manually searched, which will take some time. Before we begin this time-consuming search process, we want to ensure that you are still interested in continuing the processing of this portion of the request.
